Black Forest Cake Recipe

Black Forest Cake is a delightful treat with layers of moist chocolate cake, fluffy whipped cream, and juicy cherries. It's a perfect blend of rich chocolate and sweet, fruity flavors. This classic dessert is as beautiful as it is delicious, making it a standout choice for any celebration.

 

Ingredients:


**For the Cake: **

- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water


**For the Filling and Topping: **

- 2 cups heavy cream

- 1/2 cup powdered sugar

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 1 jar (24 oz) sour cherries, drained (save the juice)

- 1/4 cup cornstarch

- 2 tbsp sugar


**For Decoration: **

- Fresh cherries with stems

- Chocolate shavings or curls

Instructions:


 1. Bake the Cake:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.

3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
4. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin.
5. Pour into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.


2. Make Cherry Filling:

1. In a small pot, mix 1 cup cherry juice, cornstarch, and 2 tbsp sugar.
2. Cook on medium heat, stirring until thick and boiling. Boil for 1 minute.

3. Add drained cherries and let cool.

 3. Whip the Cream:

1. Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

 4. Assemble the Cake:

1. Cut each cake in half to make 4 layers.
2. Put one layer on a plate. Spread 1/3 of the cherry filling and some whipped cream.
3. Repeat with the next two layers.
4. Top with the last layer. Cover the whole cake with whipped cream.


5. Decorate:

1. Pipe whipped cream rosettes on top.
2. Place a cherry on each rosette.
3. Press chocolate shavings onto the sides and sprinkle some on top.


 6. Chill:

1. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
